TESTIMONIALS
Utmost professional. This artist is a joy to work with. Claire Kyle AGO --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cem has a unique and innovative style to his work. The title gives you a head start on how to interpret each piece. The subject, images and colours all work together, so each viewer will be drawn in and appreciate the art in their own way. Although each piece maybe be viewed uniquely, Cem’s art is always an amazing experience for everyone. Mark Aboud Managing Director Middlefield Group --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your work is so beautiful. I admire your art. Thank you for offering your gift to the world. Tara Gavardinas --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- My appreciation of Cem`s paintings lies mainly in their representational simplicity and their engrossing aesthetics that are clearly a central aspiration; the viewer is usually drawn into the composition of his paintings either by a longing or a personal memory. This is not coincidental, but rather a well deliberated objective in the story of the compositions; he paints the objects from a unique and liberal personal perspective without any unattractive distractions. Ateş Gürbüz Engineer & Businessman --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cem Basarir’s paintings evoke a personal reaction to his work that requires the viewer to reflect on what is being displayed on the canvas. Art evokes an internal emotion from each viewer- the viewer either likes the work initially or, more importantly for me, it requires reflection and cognition each time I am confronted by the work. The best art creates a response that does not dissipate over time, but rather becomes more intense. I especially like the ethereal quality of his paintings. I encourage you to make time and visit Cem Basarir's studio where multiple displays of his works are available for your viewing pleasure. Monte McMurchy --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Cem, I was wondering if you minded letting your "children" go. I was watching you wrapping my Allan Gardens, with such attention and tenderness. A bit like a father getting his child ready to go out. It was moving! It's the problem with artworks. When it's sold, the physical body leaves you. You can only hope that it will be treated kindly. You're left only with a photo. But looking at the photo, all the memories of the creative moments will return. The act of creation remains yours. And nobody will ever own that. Yet, somehow, your painting left you the moment you presented it to the public. It then took a life of its own. You have no idea what it became in the mind of others. And how much love it is receiving. I have so many thoughts about this. But for now I will just confirm that you certainly can tell the paintings have a new home. Thank you for your hospitality. I had such a great time with this private visit. Regards. Claude Prévost Gamble --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cem Basarir’s paintings celebrate life, the very moment of being. Time and space come together in his paintings--his narratives, often focused on seemingly simple and ordinary topics, where open doors beckon, where the participants in the narratives are connected with each other, with themselves, with the objects around them, with the landscapes or urban spaces they are in. It is always a dialogue with being, with the here and now, with the moment transcendent. And the viewer is drawn into each painting, enters it, and, held by light and shadow and glowing fields of colour, becomes part with it, with the moment and all its possibilities. Channah Cohen Storyteller & Poet Writer of “Venetian Red,” “Sutra,” “Life & Death: The Broadcast” --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love the realism that you paint all around the city, all with a softened dream-like quality that beautifies a world that is not always perfect. It is as if you forever imagine only the good and lovely things--just as you have always done each and every day that I have known you. B.M.Lloyd Writer of "Not a Total Waste" Member of the Writers Union of Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like your use of colour and negative space. Congratulations on all the shows and on carving out your niche in the Toronto Art world. Derek Evernden Illustrator/Graphic Designer --------------------------------------------------------------------------o---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your art is different. I read lately that what is important is not so much the technique but a different vision of reality and I think that you are going in that direction. Alejandro Rabazo Artist |
