Representational simplicity and engrossing aesthetics are clearly a central aspiration in Cem’s paintings. The viewer is usually drawn into the composition of his paintings either by a longing or a personal memory. This is not coincidental, but rather a well deliberated objective in the story of the compositions; he paints the objects from a unique and liberal personal perspective without any unattractive distractions.
His style is not a kind of perfected imitation under the influence of third parties and his art is far beyond being an impulsive expression of momentary emotions; his aspiration in creativity and originality does not disregard the mathematical laws of nature- balance and order in nature are well respected in his art.
Throughout his life, Cem has always been into painting; it seems that his special interest in stylizing works and architectural sketches during his university life has been followed by his professional life in graphics and the cultural influence of the country he has immigrated into have jointly yielded his current style.
